Kilims & Flatweaves
Flatwoven pieces: kilims, soumaks, and related textiles. No pile, strong graphic patterns, and a weave you can read from both sides. Every piece is photographed front and back and measured at all four edges.

A kilim is woven, not knotted. The pattern is made by the coloured wefts themselves, which is why a kilim is flat, reversible in many cases, and lighter than a pile rug of the same size. Soumak adds a wrapping technique that gives a raised, braided surface.
Flatweaves are honest objects: the structure is visible on the face, so there is less room for a misleading listing than with pile rugs. The things still worth checking are condition, colour run, and exact size, and those are the things we document.
Kilims suit rooms that want pattern without weight: under a dining table, layered, or hung. If you are unsure whether a kilim or a pile rug fits your room better, ask, and we will say plainly.
