Silk Rugs
Fine hand-knotted rugs with silk pile, including Qom work. Silk holds more knots per centimetre than wool, so the drawing is finer, and the surface changes with the light and the direction you view it from.
Silk is where listings most often overreach. "Silk" can mean silk pile on a silk foundation, silk pile on cotton, a wool rug with silk highlights, or, in dishonest cases, mercerised cotton sold as silk. The difference matters for price and for wear.
We state exactly what we can verify about the material, and where we cannot verify it, the record says so. Every silk piece is photographed front and back, because the back is where fineness is visible: the smaller and denser the knots, the finer the rug.
A silk rug is best where it is seen more than walked on: bedrooms, studies, walls, and low-traffic living rooms. Ask us whether a specific piece suits the spot you have in mind.
